Patch writing is a writing technique when one takes material from a source and manipulate the sentences by replacing several words and ideas. I believe patch writing can be a useful technique because it opens up a writer's mind to new ideas and gives them confidence in what they are writing or trying to convey to their audience. I believe patch writing can be used as free writing. For example, if you write and essay and use the patch writing technique, that can be looked at as a rough draft. From the rough draft, you can look at ideas you have wrote and develop you own essay.
